I started the day with strong coffee and some uncertainty about life. With September around the corner, I found myself thinking about the goals I wrote down in January and the ones that are still unfinished. Teaching reminded me of my own progress. Giving a lecture to my first-ever batch of Master’s students made me realise that I have come further than I sometimes give myself credit for. I don’t need to rush everything. Some things can be done slowly, without putting unnecessary pressure on myself.
Today’s thought was about insecurity. I noticed someone with alopecia and the way he carried himself with confidence. It made me wonder: are we insecure about ourselves, or are we more insecure about how we imagine other people see us?
Maybe insecurity is sometimes created by our own perception. We often focus on the things we think others will notice, while they may not even be thinking about them.
I spent hours figuring out Codex and Visual Studio while working on my dashboard. I noticed that sometimes I stop even when I genuinely want to finish something, not because I don’t care, but because my mind simply needs a reset.
I learned that stopping doesn’t always mean giving up. Sometimes we just need to slow down, step away, reset, and return.
What I learned today
- Progress doesn’t need urgency.
- Confidence doesn’t need approval.
- Unfinished things don’t mean failed things.
