The Little Things That Stayed With Me

I have two questions for today:

1. Why do some strangers make us feel so welcomed?

2. Why do small moments stay with us?

On my way to university, I met a Banjara couple selling beautiful pottery. I was looking at a vase when the uncle smiled and said, “Beta, yeh le jao, sundar hai.” A few minutes later, he asked, “Beta, khana kha lo.”

Such a simple gesture from a stranger, but it felt genuinely warm.

In the evening, I saw children playing near a Janmashtami decoration. I joined them on the swing, and while leaving, one of them asked, “Didi, aap kal kitne baje aaoge?” That little question made my day.

I also noticed pampas grass today. Something so ordinary made me pause and appreciate how nature can quietly calm the mind.

What I learned

  • Kindness doesn’t need an introduction.
  • Connection doesn’t always need familiarity.
  • Sometimes, the smallest moments are the ones worth remembering.
